WP Trading Cards : 2013 National Scout Jamboree

2013 National Scout Jamboree Collectors Edition cards were produced by the WP Society for the Boy Scouts of America. The cards were distributed to attendees of the 2013 National Scout Jamboree held July 15–24, 2013, at the Summit Bechtel Reserve in Glen Jean, West Virginia. Each box contains 75 packs.

Astronaut Neil A. Armstrong is featured in the "Famous Scouts" subset. Armstrong achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in 1947 with Troop 14 of Wapakoneta, Ohio. Commander Armstrong carried a World Membership Badge to the Moon during the Apollo 11 mission. Armstrong received the Silver Buffalo Award in 1970, and the Distinguished Eagle Scout Award in 1973.

Scouts at the 2013 National Scout Jamboree made radio contact with Italian astronaut Luca Parmitano on the International Space Station. On July 18, 1969, while enroute to the Moon aboard the Columbia, Neil Armstrong transmitted a greeting to the Boy Scouts: "I’d like to say hello to all my fellow Scouts and Scouters at Farragut State Park in Idaho having a National Jamboree there this week; and Apollo 11 would like to send them best wishes." Eagle Scout Neil Armstrong stepped onto the moon–and into history–on July 20, 1969. When he radioed "The Eagle has landed," he wasn't kidding. The humble hero retired from NASA in 1971 to teach aerospace engineering at the University of Cincinnati. As fellow astronaut (and Scout) John Glenn told CNN, "He didn't feel that he should be out huckstering himself."

The National Scout Jamboree distributed astronaut trading cards in 1989, 2013, and 2017.
