1966 Lyons Maid : Famous People
The Famous People card series was distributed in 1966 by J. Lyons & Co. Ltd. of London. One card was included with ice cream products from the Lyons Maid brand. The illustrated 48-card collection showcases
important figures of the 19th and 20th centuries. The Cigarette and Trade Card Catalogue reference is LYO-220.
Each card measures approximately 1.375 x 2.625 inches. The series was printed with large and small typeface variants. An Album of Famous People collector scrapbook was sold separately for six pence.

Card #48 depicts a painting of Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin and the orbital path of Vostok 1. On April 12,
1961, Gagarin became the first human to fly in space and orbit the Earth. A
