1976 Productos Ortiz : Parejas Famosas
Parejas Famosas was released in 1976 by Productos Ortiz, S.A. of Dénia,
Spain. The 90-card illustrated series showcases 45 pairs of famous people
throughout history. The collection includes characters from the Old Testament
and popular literary works.
The cards were distributed with packages of Madalena and Gitanito dessert
snacks from Ortiz. Each perforated card measures approximately 2.25 x 3.5
inches. A 36-page Parejas Famosas collector album was sold separately.
The card text and album is printed in Spanish. The back of each card contains
rules for a pair-matching game.
Parejas Famosas features Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin, the first person
to fly in space and orbit the Earth. Gagarin is paired with the first American
to enter orbit, Mercury-Atlas 6 astronaut John Glenn. The cover of the Parejas Famosas
collector album depicts an illustration of the Gemini spacecraft.
