1966 Typhoo Tea : Great Voyages of Discovery
The Great Voyages of Discovery card series was distributed in 1966 by
Typhoo Tea Ltd. in Birmingham, England. The illustrated 24-card collection
showcases explorers and discoveries throughout history from Hanno the
Navigator to the 1966 landing of Luna 9.
One cut-away card panels was printed on the back of each box of Typhoo tea. Each black-and-white card panel measures approximately 1.4 x 2.65 inches. The back of each card is blank. A Great Voyages of Discovery fold-out map was produced by Finding Out magazine.

Card #23 depicts a painting of Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin and Sputnik 1. On
April 12, 1961, Gagarin became the first human to fly in space and orbit the
Earth.
