2017 Topps Baseball Series Two
2017 Topps Baseball Series Two was released by The Topps Company, Inc.
on June 15, 2017. Each hobby and retail box contains 36 packs with 10 cards
per pack. Jumbo boxes contain 10 packs per box with 50 cards per pack. Hanger
boxes contain 72 cards. Insert odds vary for each release.
The odds of finding a "First Pitch" insert are approximately 1:8 hobby/retail
packs, 1:3 jumbo packs, or 1:2 hanger boxes.
The Series Two "First Pitch" subset includes a photograph of U.S. Navy submariner and NASA
astronaut Stephen G. Bowen at Wrigley Field on August 17, 2016. Steve Bowen was
selected by NASA in July 2000 as part of Astronaut Group 18. Bowen has flown
in space aboard Space Shuttle Endeavor, Atlantis, and
Discovery, as well as the SpaceX Crew Dragon Endeavor. In 2023,
Bowen commanded the SpaceX Crew-6 mission to the
International Space Station. As of 2024, Bowen has logged a total of 227 days in space.
Tossing out the first pitch at Wrigley Field on August 17, 2016 was a cinch
for Bowen, who's tackled space travel and the deep seas in his career as an
engineer. The U.S. Navy captain took three Space Shuttle missions to the
International Space Station from 2008–11. Having spent more than 20 hours on
three separate spacewalks, Steve was aboard the final planned flight of the
Space Shuttle Discovery.
